Happy Turkey Day!

or ToFurkey if you're like me. Three things I'm thankful for at the moment...

1. Friends & family.

2. Cuddling.

3. Fashion blogs.

All three keep me sane. It's always good to remember the pleasant things in life.

A cat!

Such strange and disconcerting creatures they are.

Look Book: Grandma Chic

Hi there.

New/old shoes in action.

I was inspired by my outing with the "red hatters" to pull something together that would blend well with those fun kooky ladies.

That's right. I joined my mom and a few red hatters on an outing and I had a blast! OK so maybe I do need to get out more. We ate at a place called The Backyard which was picnic inspired and super yummy, complete with one of the best veggie burgers of my life. Followed by shopping the nearby stores which included beautiful vintage furniture and a quaint garden area. Good company and good eats with some vintage gawking equals good times.

Dress: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: thrifted, hat: pacsun maybe?

10 random things.

I need to find a pair of sunglasses like these! I would rock em once more.

This is basically a copout for having nothing to write about so here you have it... 10 random things:

1. I did dance (ballet/pointe, tap, jazz, and lyrical) for years and quit when I was 15. I regret it to this day but I still dance alone and barefoot in my room so it never really left me.

2. "Don't Stop Believin" gives me goosebumps every time.

3. I have a serious fear of being kidnapped or raped. I can be a little bit paranoid...

4. I prefer to drive barefoot.

5. I'm a sucker for guys with sleeves and pretty eyes.

6. I always wanted to do like Enid from Ghost World and just disappear so I pretty much did that when I turned 18. (Now I'm back).

7. My three favorite looks are organic, mod and whimsical.

8. I've been a vegetarian since I was 17 or so. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

9. I own a pug (Izzy) for 5 years now and she always makes me smile when I'm having a bad day.

10. My dream job would be a fashion photographer or a fashion buyer but I'm a realist and am fine with the field of pediatrics. I have a knack for dealing with children and animals.

On some happy recent purchases

$25 from Salvation Army ($75 split three ways). As soon as I saw this couch, I knew it had to be mine! The color, the shape, the comfiness! Never mind the fact that I don't own my own place. You don't stumble on couches like these everyday.

$6 from the Salvation Army. I love these shoes, they're worn and beat up some but I think they have character. Very Little House on the Prairie.

$35 from Urban Outfitters. Got it during their $35 dress sale and I'm glad I did because it sold out the next day. I want to wear it to an art function of some sort and maybe pair it with a black belt, tights and ankle booties.

Post Halloween Photos

I almost forgot to share!

As you can see, I decided on my $6 bright red mary jane wedges. The strap broke right in the beginning of the night but you get what you pay for I guess. We still had a blast dancing and gawking at other costumes until 2:30 am. Good times indeed.

Vibrant legs.

Colored tights are one of those style trends that I adore on others but am unsure of for myself. I have my sturdy German legs first off which means my calfs are bigger than your average gal and I tend to shy away from bright colors anyways. Still I especially love the look of pairing a plain dark dress with bright tights. An otherwise simple outfit becomes something more bold and unique.

These may not be the simplest outfits but I adore them all the same.

Hmm.. I'm thinking I should just go ahead and try this fun trend out. I've always stuck to black but I think I'll graduate to gray, navy and maroon, then on to the brighter colors. I'm all about the baby steps.
